To create a web interface for a Gaming Service Provider (GSP). TW's customer model was to provide a closed gaming community to a paying membership base, giving them the ability to launch their own game servers, run ladders, tournaments and so forth. From an admin standpoint, the ability to manage customers, teams, competitions and the 'gamezone'. The gamezone itself was an ActiveX component running on an IIS server, setup to talk via perl daemons to 12 of our co-location Linux machines in order to configure various online game servers as needed. It also allowed for clients to challenge each other, chat and interact as a part of a community.
Developping this solution took a team of 3 people nearly 2 years. Unfortunately, an year later, TW run out of money and had to close down due to private funding and investment scares that followed 9/11 and the subsequent war in Afganistan. |
